For those that are tired of the nagging from the UAC in Windows Vista. You will probably have already noticed that turning it off using the control panel option only works until you have to restart and then the setting is automatically turned back on.

If you want to, here is how to stop it popping up permanently:

  1. Open Start, and type in "msconfig" and then press Enter.
  2. Go through the UAC prompt (the one we are trying to stop popping up),
  3. When the Microsoft System Configuration Utility opens, click the "Tools" tab.
  4. Then look for the option which says "Disable UAC".
  5. Press Launch, and when the command prompt window opens up and says "Operation Completed Successfully", close the Command Prompt, and then the Microsoft System Configuration Utility.
  6. Now you can restart your workstation without fear of UAC being re-enabled.

If you every want to turn it back on, just reverse the setting and the security is back on.

Enjoy,

Aaron
